Upgrading the Game Studio

When we started building the Game Studio, our goal was to give you everything you needed to bring a world to life without having to leave the app. But we noticed that setting up a new game still felt a bit rigid.

You had to bring your own images for everything. And starting a game felt lonely—you could only drop one character into the starting location.

This week, we shipped a bunch of updates to the Game Studio to make building your worlds faster, more visual, and a lot more fun.

Game poster generation interface

1. Built-in AI Image Generation

We want games to look incredible right out of the gate. So we built AI image generation directly into the Game Studio.

  • Game Posters: You can now generate your game's main cover art using credits, right from the studio. No more hunting for the perfect image on Pinterest.
  • Scene Views: You can also generate beautiful, location-specific scene images for your starting events. This gives players a stunning visual to anchor them when they first load into your world.

2. Richer Game Openings

A good RPG needs a hook. We've completely opened up how you can start your games.

  • The Whole Party: You are no longer limited to one character per starting location. You can drop multiple characters into the same spot right at the start.
  • Custom Opening Lines: You can now write custom starting dialogue for the player character. It's a great way to establish the tone and give the player a clear immediate goal before they even type their first prompt.

3. Quest Trigger Anchors

Quests shouldn't just float in the void. They need to be grounded in the world.

You can now attach specific triggers to your quests. Want a quest to start only when a player talks to a specific character? Or when they walk into a certain tavern? Or when they pick up a cursed sword? You can now anchor quests to characters, locations, or objects.

We also sneaked in a few smaller quality-of-life improvements to keep the studio organized:

That’s all for the Game Studio this week. We’re really excited to see what kind of worlds you all build with these new tools.
